Toastmaster of the Year 2012

Do you have what it takes to be the Toastmaster of the Year (TOY)? It certainly takes a lot of effort, sacrifice, commitment, dedication and sweat and tears to earn this award. This award is by members of the Club to a member who has shown all the outstanding qualities of communication and leadership during the year. For the year 2012, we are pleased to announce that the petite, vivacious and pretty E Shan Ling won the award and it was an event that she celebrated loudly and happily at the Installation & Appreciation Dinner on 4 August 2012. Wow! Wow! What an achievement!

Division W Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests 2012

Congratulations to our representative to the Division W Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contests 2012, DTM Vincent Hor. Vincent was the Club Champion, Area W1 Champion and emerged as the 1st Runner Up in the Division W Champion against stiff competition.
You have made us proud flying the Mtmc flag high.

INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS

We wish to welcome our new members, Stacia Lim, Alvin Chai and Johnny Yong. Stacia is attached to an oil & gas company whilst Alvin is practising as a Chartered Secretary. Both Stacia and Alvin joined our Club to further their communication and leadership skills. Alvin was a member of a Chinese language Toastmaster Club.
Johnny is the Operation Director of MAICSA and is also a member of MIAToastmasters Club. Johnny has achieved his Advanced Communicator Bronze award.
We wish to welcome them into our fraternity and hope they will have fruitful success.

Profile of The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators

The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) was founded in 1959 as an affiliated body to ICSA. It is now one of the nine Divisions of ICSA worldwide, having achieved a Division status in 2001. Membership of the Institute is limited only to members and students of the Institute residing in Malaysia. At present the Institute has about 4,200 members (comprising Fellows, Associates) and Graduates, 3,200 students and 900 Affiliates.

There are two classes of membership of the Institute, ie Fellows and Associates. All qualified members of the Institute are entitled to describe themselves as Chartered Secretaries and use the designatory letters, FCIS or ACIS as appropriate. Fellowship is the senior grade of membership. Another grade, Grad ICSA comprises those who have successfully completed the examinations but have not yet gained sufficient qualifying service for Associateship.

June 2011 Division Governor's Message

Today is the 8^th of June 2011. We sailed together through the rough seas and braved the storms. We think Achievement and Distinction. We have come this far. The journey is not complete yet. We have miles to go.

The measure of success is not on the number of steps you have made but on how many more steps you can ensure your team members and their future team members can achieve. We at Division W Council have always placed you as top priority in our mind. We provided the various platforms for your educational learning vide workshops, talks and events. We are pleased to present to you the Div W Semi-Annual Report 2010 and the Annual Report 2011, both reports were published in the District 51 Semi-Annual 2010 and Annual Convention 2011 respectively. We aspire to do more and believe our events and effort have benefited our Div W members and fellow Toastmasters.

We faced tough challenges since the very first day of the term 2010/2011. The path laid for us was filled with rocks and obstacles. Our Area Governors and fellow Council members have sacrificed their time and energy only for One Aim – to Enrich Your Life! Throughout the term, we have chartered 2 new Clubs, ie One World TmC and TARC TmC. We will lose some clubs that are beyond our ability to sustain them. It has to happen this term for the betterment of our successors. We continue to follow up with the leads obtained to charter more clubs in our Division.

We have sponsored our 4 contest champions with Convention packages to the District Level’s Humorous Speech contest, Evaluation contest, Table Topics contest and International Speech contest. Div W is also proud to have worked so hard to sponsor all the Areas’ speech contest trophies this term.

More importantly, we are proud to have you always, fellow Div W Quality Clubs, and we believe the winds of Valour will raise our wings again. We have already formed the complete Div W Team 2011/2012 before the April 2011 Annual Convention in Penang, and we are proud to say we were already prepared to serve members of Div W before the new term begins this 1 July 2011.

We seek your immediate actions here…

~ submit as many new members as you can recruit

~ reinstate as many former members that still believe in the magic of Toastmasters program

~ every member achieve an award, for self and eventually for your club

~ elect your successors and submit the names to TI now

~ make every Club in Div W a minimum Distinguished Club status

We ask from you no more than we can give. Let us work together closer and motivate each other to strive higher. In this journey, we at Division W continue Enriching Your Life! in every single accomplishment. Let us Achieve Greatness Together.

Division W Governor Address

Dear Div W members,

Salam 1 Malaysia and a warm greeting to you all. Today marks the 1st July 2010, the start of a new term 2010/2011. Division W is all ready to serve all members alongside your journey in the Toastmasters program, with enthusiasm and great aspiration.

In line with the Toastmasters International theme "Achieving Greatness Together", Div W will be "Enriching Your Life!" further, via mentoring, sharing and mutual support towards excelsior ie beyond excellence. We have prepared a series of toastmasters programs and trainings to elevate and further escalate your Communication & Leadership skills.

Our dedicated Area Governors, Sin Siew Fun (W1), Kang Chin Chong (W2), Angeline Lee (W3), Janice Lee (W4) and Lee Soo Ling (W5) will accompany you to achieve greater heights.
Our supportive Div W Secretary, Marian Lee; Div W Treasurer, Christine Khoo; and Div W PRO, Kimmy Foo; will ensure the administration of Div W affairs are maintained with True Integrity, Corporate Governance spirit and right decisions.

Work on the critical success factors so that every individual member in Div W achieves a goal. This will translate to Club's, Areas' and Division W's success. Thus we will focus on you, our VALUED MEMBER.

We will meet on our Div W's TLI 1, on 7 August, 2010. Our AGs will update you. Be there. Be Inspired.
